Cisco PIX firewall 515E PIX-515E-FO-BUN
PIX 515E Active/Standby Failover Bundle (chassis, Active/Standby failover license, software, 2 10/100 interfaces, 128 MB RAM, VAC or VAC+). PIX OS version depends on market availability.
The Cisco PIX® 515E Firewall is an enhanced version of the widely popular Cisco PIX 515 platform, providing industry-leading stateful firewall and IP Security (IPSec) virtual private networking (VPN) services. Designed for small and medium businesses, as well as enterprise remote offices, the Cisco PIX 515E features increased processing power and integrated, hardware-based IPSec acceleration (certain models) delivering even more robust performance for high throughput security requirements. The Cisco PIX 515E's versatile one-rack unit (1RU) chassis provides support for up to six interfaces, making it an excellent choice for organizations requiring a cost-effective security solution with DMZ support. As part of the world-leading Cisco PIX Firewall Series, it provides today's networking customers with unmatched security, reliability, and performance. The Cisco PIX 515E is a purpose-built firewall appliance that offers an unprecedented level of protection. It is tightly integrated with the Cisco PIX Operating System (OS); a proprietary, hardened system that eliminates security holes and performance-degrading overhead typically found in general-purpose operating environments. At the heart of this system is a protection scheme based on the Adaptive Security Algorithm (ASA), offering stateful, connection-oriented firewalling while at the same time blocking common denial of service (DoS) attacks.
The Cisco PIX 515E is also a full-featured VPN gateway that can securely transport data over public networks. It supports both site-to-site and remote access VPN applications via 56-bit Data Encryption Standard (DES) or 168-bit Triple DES (3DES). Depending on the Cisco PIX 515E model selected, VPN functionality is provided as a service of the Cisco PIX OS or through an integrated hardware-based VPN Accelerator Card (VAC) delivering up to 63 Mbps throughput and 2,000 IPsec tunnels. High availability is supported with the deployment of a redundant hot standby unit. This failover option maintains concurrent connections through automatic stateful synchronization. This insures that even in the event of a system failure, sessions are maintained and the transition is completely transparent to network users. This firewall is available in three models that provide different levels of interface density, failover capabilities, and VPN throughput.
Restricted Software License
The Cisco PIX 515E "Restricted" (PIX 515E-R) model provides an excellent value for organizations looking for robust Cisco PIX Firewall services with minimal interface density and VPN throughput requirements. It includes 32 MB of RAM and support for up to three 10/100 Fast Ethernet interfaces.
