IBM is enhancing the functionality of the DS3000 entry storage product family by adding RAID 6 support, expanding the number of storage partitions supported, increasing the number of FlashCopies per volume, adding support for a larger-capacity SAS drive, and providing Solaris server support.

Increasing the number of FlashCopies per volume to eight allows more frequent data backups and increased data protection. The FlashCopy function is designed to provide a point-in-time copy of a logical drive. The total number of FlashCopies supported per array is 64.
