Stickfish Supplies HPC Cluster for Comenius University in Bratislava

(11.08.2010)

Stickfish, specialising in ICT and VDI technology supplies, has secured an order for an HPC cluster worth EUR 160 000 for the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Comenius University in Bratislava.

The delivery of the very powerful HPC (High Performance Computing) cluster system is built around Sun Microsystems/Oracle blade servers with the super-fast Infiniband protocol connection. The eight Sun Blade 6000 servers with fiber channel storage Sun STK2540 will provide computing power for software such as Schrodinger, Gaussian 09, and Yasara for research and studies in the area of protein molecules.

„Orders of this kind are what we like the most,“ says Filip Korbel from Stickfish, the supplier of HPC solutions, and adds: „we do not hide the fact that the business volume is significant. However, the main thing is that these servers will compute something useful, something that can help us all one day. Being a Sun Partner, education and HPC are our long-term pursuits. This is also evidenced by the hundreds of CPU's supplied to the Academy of Sciences or the Mendel University in Brno.“
